Richard Corey Coons, 44, Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening, February 8, 2014 from complications of the flu virus. Corey was born September 30, 1969 to Bonnie Johnson and Perry Stanger in Salt Lake City. When he was three years old his mother remarried David A. Coons and Corey was adopted and raised by him. He moved to Bountiful where he attended Muir Elementary, Mueller Park Jr. High and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1987.
Corey never took life too seriously, loved a good time, and strived to see just how much he could get away with, without being caught. He was artistically talented and did beautiful carpentry work and painting. He was a hard worker and never shirked his responsibility to holding up his part of a job. He did many chores and kind deeds for people without expecting pay. He worked several years in the grocery business before starting construction. He loved to see his creations completed.
Corey is survived by his grandfather, Bernell Coons; his parents, Dave and Bonnie; brothers: Michael (Staci), Ryan (Merilee); sister, Camille Hood (Gary); many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his five beautiful children: Kailey Baer (Jonathon) Germany, Carson, Cody, Chloe, and Cooper all of Missouri.
Corey was preceded in death by his infant son, Kelly Coons, his grandparents, Albert and Louise Johnson, Anne Coons and his father, Perry Stanger.
A special thanks to Kay Schroeder, a wonderful friend and second mother to Corey. You are truly an angel.
