CENTERVILLE – A Victorian fashion show and luncheon will be held Saturday to mark International Women’s Day and women’s suffrage, Saturday, March 8.
The Soroptimists International of Bountiful is inviting the public to the event, which includes an afternoon tea, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 S. Main, Centerville, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
“The History of Women’s Suffrage” will be presented by Ellie Van Staagen Mitchell. She has given that presentation, in costume, 58 times in Florida and Utah, a press release from the group said.
A fashion show will feature five antique outfits from the Victorian era. Models are Alisha Giles, Sammi Snyder, Morgan Nau, Kathy Spjute and Lindsey Grossenbach. Clothing and photographs from the 1890s to the 1960s also will be on display.
In addition, the Soroptimist Ruby Award will be presented to a Davis County woman for her “exceptional service to women and girls.”
Finger food, sandwiches, fruit, desserts, hot and cold beverages will be served. Cost is $15 per person.
