WEST POINT – A complaint over some kind of noise or disturbance led to a standoff at a West Point home Saturday morning.

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office told the Clipper that someone called in the complaint, reporting what sounded like gunfire coming from the home near 3700 West and 1550 North at around 9:00 a.m.

Davis County Sheriff’s Lt. Dave Bremmer said officers tried to make contact with the people inside the home, but that they were unsuccessful at first.

Bremmer said SWAT officers detonated several ‘flash-bang’ grenades nearby in an effort to get the occupants to leave the home.

One neighbor reported hearing the explosions to the Clipper.

According to Bremmer, two people exited the residence at first, and then three more left the home about an hour later.

Bremmer said the people who left the home were not cooperative with investigators, and added that deputies have been called to the home on previous occasions due to complaints about noise or other nuisances.

Bremmer said officers obtained a warrant so that a SWAT team could enter and see if anyone else was in the home.

When the SWAT team entered, they found an empty home, and no sign of any gun or gunfire.

Bremmer said one of the occupants of the home was arrested on an outstanding warrant, but that no citations were issued over the standoff, pending an investigation.
