BOUNTIFUL - Three Davis County cities made the list of 10 best for home ownership.
That’s according to a survey by NerdWallet, where the 47 Utah cities with 15,000 residents or more were analyzed, a press release from that group said.
Davis County cities making the list were Syracuse, at number 3, Clinton at number 5 and Farmington at number 7.
Three main questions were used to make the conclusions: Are homes available? Can you afford to live there? Is the area growing?
Syracuse was noted as being “extremely buyer-friendly.” Some 92.5 percent of residents owned their own homes, the highest rate on the list. They only paid out 23.5 percent of their household incomes to homeowner costs, the lowest on the list.
Clinton was cited as having the “lowest median selected monthly homeowner costs” at $1,376, with 85.7 percent of its residents being homeowners. The city was also noted for maintaining a “quiet, rural atmosphere” while being easily accessible to big cities.
Farmington “residents consider (the city) a great place to raise children it has a low crime rate and great school system,” the release said. Some 83.3 percent of residents own their own homes. Its abundance of nearby activities were noted, from Lagoon to hiking, snowmobiling, fishing and camping.
Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain, both in northwestern Utah County, topped the list.
