WOODS CROSS – The Davis Darts baseball team bounced back from its loss to Bountiful by splitting a double-header Saturday against Grantsville and Westlake.
Davis lost to the Cowboys 6-4 and beat Westlake 8-0.
Woods Cross improved its record to 4-1 to start the season, beating Granger 14-2 and Hunter 11-0 in its double header held Saturday.
The Braves lost to Salem Hills, 5-4, to fall to 1-2 in non-region play.
Davis drops to Grantsville 6-4, shutout Westlake 8-0
After falling to the Bountiful Braves Friday 1-0, the Davis Darts split a double-header Saturday.
It’s first game against Grantsville was a 6-4 loss that saw the Darts score four runs in the first two innings.
They were shutout the rest of the way; however, and Grantsville scored all six of its runs between the third and sixth innings.
Dom Fuller and Kaden Day each hit doubles for the Darts. Kurt Volmer took the loss.
In the Darts second game against Westlake, Davis scattered 13 hits and scored eight runs to win 8-0. Ben Rigby, who picked up the win on the mound, allowed only one hit.
Day and Jake Adams each hit a double for the Darts in the win.
Wildcats sweep weekend double-header over Granger, Hunter
Woods Cross scored 25 runs in two games Saturday, sweeping its double-header against Granger and Hunter.
The Wildcats beat the Lancers 14-2 in the first game and 11-0 in the second game.
The pair of wins for the Wildcats marks their fourth in the first five games to open the season.
Braves drop to Salem Hills, 5-4
Following its 1-0 win over Davis last Friday, the Bountiful Braves lost to Salem Hills despite a strong effort to come from behind.
Down 5-0 the Braves scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and two more in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to send the game into extra innings.
Brayden Muir took the loss on the mound. Ben Fowers, Mason Jones and Ryan Curtis each hit doubles for the Braves.
Games this week
Davis and Viewmont will finish their three-game series Friday afternoon at Davis High School.
Bountiful has a pair of road games starting Thursday at Highland High School.
The Braves will also travel to Maple Mountain Saturday before opening region play Monday at home against East.
The Wildcats will travel to East High School to face the Leopards before taking part in the Snow Canyon Texas Roadhouse Classic on Friday and Saturday.
The tournament will be played at Snow Canyon High School in St. George.
