FARMINGTON - American Legion Post 27 will host a dedication ceremony with a ribbon cutting and open house Friday, March 21 at 4 p.m.

The dedication ceremony will be held in the community room of Farmington City Hall, 160 S. Main. The ribbon cutting and open house will follow at 5 p.m. in Room 116 of the Davis County Memorial Courthouse, 28 E. State Street.

Refreshments will be served.

Many dignitaries are expected, including the Davis County Commissioners, Farmington Mayor Jim Talbot, American Legion National Western Vice-Commander Douglas Wooddell, Department of Utah Commander Randy Edwards, and Department of Utah Vice-Commander Paula Stephenson.

During the past year, Post 27 performed military funeral honors for 52 deceased veterans, 35 Eagle Scout American flag presentations, conducted the annual Oratorical Contest awarding scholarships to three Davis High School students, and more, said Commander Kent Hansen.

The post also sponsored 35 boys from Northern Utah Academy of Math, Engineering and Science, Davis and Viewmont High Schools to American Legion Boys State, conducted a massive American flag retirement ceremony at the Davis County Fair and other activities.

Those included flag ceremonies, participation in parades and monument dedications.
