Viewmont, Woods Cross pick up region wins

WOODS CROSS – The Viewmont Vikings stayed unbeaten in Region 1 play last week with a 2-1 victory over Fremont.

Davis tied its match against Weber the same day, and Woods Cross picked up an important win against Judge Memorial in Region 6 play.

Vikings still undefeated, beat Fremont 2-1

Playing on the road against a Region 1 opponent, the Vikings remained undefeated in region play with a 2-1 victory over the Silverwolves last Thursday.

The Vikings scored both their goals in the first half. Bryan Correa and Landen Hansen each netted a goal in the win.

For Fremont, Brayden Searle picked up a goal in the second half.

Viewmont’s win was its fifth in a row and seventh in eight games played this season.

Wildcats beat Bulldogs 1-0 at home

Woods Cross picked up its third Region 6 win last Thursday by shutting out Judge Memorial 1-0.

Chris DeCospa netted a goal for the Wildcats in the second half and Taylor Kennard picked up a shutout at the net, his fourth of the season.

The goal for DeCospa was his first for Woods Cross.

Games this week

Region play continues Friday for Bountiful, which will head to Highland High School to take on the Rams at 3:30 p.m.

Viewmont and Davis will return to play on Tuesday, April 8 against Syracuse and Layton, respectively. 

The Vikings and Darts will be at home.

Woods Cross will travel to Clearfield on Tuesday, April 8 to battle the Falcons in Region 6 play.
