KAYSVILLE – The Davis Darts and Viewmont Vikings each squeezed in a softball game last Friday before the spring moratorium.
Playing against non-region opponents Roy and Manti, respectively, the Darts were able to get a 5-1 win over the Royals and the Vikings took a tough 9-7 loss to the Templar.
Davis picks up 5-1 win over Royals
Playing against a former region opponent at home, the Davis Lady Darts were able to pick up a 5-1 win over the Royals last Friday.
The Darts scored three runs in the first inning and maintained their lead through the first three innings.
After Roy scored a run in the fourth, Davis responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to keep its lead at three runs.
The Darts tacked on another run in the sixth and held Roy scoreless in the seventh for the win.
Leilani Moon hit a home run for Davis, her sixth of the season.
Saydie Priest hit a pair of doubles and Makenna O’Brien picked up the win inside the circle.
Lady Vikings drop tough game to Manti, 9-7
Holding a 7-4 lead after five innings, the Lady Vikings allowed five Templar runs to score in the top of the sixth inning and couldn’t rebound from the deficit, resulting in a 9-7 loss for the Vikings.
Viewmont took the initial lead in the game in the third inning, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead.
Manti scored a pair of runs to tie the game in the top of the fourth, but the Vikings regained the lead at 7-4 after scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Manti’s five-run sixth inning topped off the scoring in the game.
Amanda Varley and Caitlyn Larsen each hit home runs to power the Vikings in the loss. Varley, Larsen, Collette West and Eliza Thornley each hit doubles for Viewmont.
Thornley took the loss inside the circle.
Games this week
Viewmont will travel to Jordan High School to take on the Beetdiggers Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The Darts return to play on Tuesday, April 8 to face the Vikings at home at 3:30 p.m. It will be Davis’ only game at home until Tuesday, April 29.
Bountiful will host Alta on Monday, April 7. Woods Cross will play West at home the same day.
Game time is 3:30 p.m.
