KAYSVILLE – The Syracuse Titans baseball team finished off the series with Davis by beating the Darts 4-3 last Thursday, taking the season series 2-1.
In California, the Bountiful Braves picked up a win at the Lions Tournament in Anaheim after beating Savannah, Calif., last week.
Viewmont also took a close loss to Layton, 3-1, Friday.
Titans take series from Davis after 4-3 win
The Syracuse Titans took the season series from Davis after beating the Darts 4-3 in come-from-behind fashion.
Davis scored early with a single run in the bottom of the first and two more runs in the third, holding Syracuse scoreless until the sixth inning.
The Titans scored four runs in their half of the sixth, taking the lead for good.
Chase Baurle, pitching for Syracuse, took the win. Ben Rigby was the losing pitcher.
Kaden Day hit a double and Tanner Bowden hit a pair of doubles for Davis in the losing effort.
Braves end Lions Tournament with a win over Savanna, CA.
Already rolling from its first tournament win last Monday, the Bountiful Braves picked up a second win at the Anaheim Lions Tournament, held in California, beating Savanna 4-0 last Wednesday in the final game of the Braves’ four-game set.
Bountiful scored two runs to start the game thanks to a Mason Jones’ two-RBI double. The Braves added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings, and Parker DePasquale pitched a complete game shutout to get the win.
Bountiful finished the tournament 2-2.
Vikings still winless after 3-1 loss to Layton
After leaving the Lions Tournament without a victory, the Viewmont Vikings extended its losing streak to 12 games after dropping to Layton 3-1 last Friday.
Viewmont was able to push across a run in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. Layton responded by scoring a run in the seventh and holding the Vikings scoreless to pick up the win.
Layton had 12 hits in the game.
Games this week
Davis and Viewmont return to the diamond for Region 1 action on Friday.
The Darts will complete its series with Northridge at Davis High School and Viewmont will face Fremont at Fremont High School.
Woods Cross and Bountiful will play Monday against Clearfield and Kearns, respectively.
Both the Wildcats and Braves will be at home.
