Forest service seeks committee members

BOUNTIFUL - The U.S. Forest Service is looking for Utahns, including Davis County residents, interested in serving on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Resource Advisory Committee.

The committee is authorized through the Secure Rural Schools Act as a mechanism for local community collaboration with federal land managers in recommending projects benefiting federal lands, according to a forest service press release.

The forest service would like to fill nine vacant positions and three alternate seats on the committee in three categories:

 ·         Category A - Developed outdoor recreation, off-highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities; land-use permit holder; alternate.

·         Category B - Archaeology and history; wildlife or hunting organizations or watershed associations; dispersed recreational activities; alternate.

·         Category C - State-elected official; county-elected official; tribal representative; school official or teacher; alternate.

Applications will be accepted no later than May 16, 2014. Applications must have an original signature. E-mailed or scanned applications will not be accepted.
