Davis’s Beecher, Woods Cross’s Riddle voted to First Team

BOUNTIFUL – The All-Region teams were released by the respective regions last week.

Voted by the coaches of those regions, Viewmont’s Caitlyn Larsen and Davis’s Sarah Beecher were named to the first team in the All-Region 1 list.

In Region 6, Bountiful’s Kennedy Redding and Tiana Dougher were named to the first team along with Woods Cross’s Aubree Riddle.

Despite an early exit in the playoffs this season, Larsen helped the team get back into Region 1 with a 12-11 overall record.

Larsen led the team in scoring and rebounding this season, scoring 18.3 points and pulling down eight rebounds for Viewmont.

Beecher led the Lady Darts to the playoffs and a quarterfinal appearance against Brighton. She was also the leading scorer for the Darts, averaging 11 points per game.

Redding and Dougher served as Bountiful’s one-two punch during the regular season, aiding the Braves to a 10-game winning streak during region play and a season sweep over every region opponent except Judge Memorial and Highland.

Redding, a sophomore, averaged a double-double to finish the season, scoring 16.7 points and pulling down 10.7 rebounds per game.

Dougher was second on the team in both categories, scoring 13.1 points and getting 6.9 rebounds per game for the Lady Braves.

Riddle helped the Lady Darts get into the playoffs despite just a single win in non-region play.

Her 13.1 points per game led the team, and she scored nine points to help Woods Cross beat Cyprus in order to get into the 4A playoffs.

From Davis, McKenzie Day (second team) and Kayley Neilson (honorable mention) also made the All-Region 1 team.

Viewmont’s Katie Toole (second team) and Collette West (honorable mention) were the other two players to make the all region team.

Bountiful’s Amy Chidester made the all-region team as an honorable mention.

Woods Cross’s Halle Smith (second team) and Marissa Brunner (honorable mention) rounded out the all-region representatives for the Wildcats.
