Viewmont, Bountiful get blowout victories over Northridge, Judge

BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings and Bountiful Braves blew out their opponents in softball last week, beating Northridge and Judge Memorial, respectively.

Woods Cross dropped a tough game to Clearfield and Davis lost both its games to Fremont and Layton.

Vikings blow out Knights, lose to Silver Wolves

The Viewmont Vikings split their last two region games between Northridge and Fremont last week, blowing out the Knights 16-0 and losing to the Silver Wolves 8-1.

The Vikings scored 14 of their 16 runs in the third inning of Thursday’s win over the Knights, who were held to just three hits as a team.

Viewmont was held to just one run on four hits against Fremont, losing 8-1 in Friday’s game. 

Bountiful crushes Judge Memorial, 15-0

In a game that lasted just four innings, the Bountiful Braves took apart the Bulldogs of Judge Memorial last Thursday, scoring at least three runs in each inning of their 15-0 victory.

McKenna Alley had a solid overall performance for the Braves, getting three hits at the plate and allowing just one hit to Judge Memorial.

Alley picked up the win inside the circle. Sydney Austin hit a double and a triple for Bountiful in the win.

Wildcats lose to Falcons, 7-2

The high-scoring Woods Cross softball team was held to just two runs last Thursday against Clearfield, and eventually lost the game 7-2.

Woods Cross scored both of its runs in the first inning and held Clearfield scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning.

Clearfield took the lead after scoring five runs, then added two more in the sixth inning to get the win.

The loss for Woods Cross snapped a five game winning streak. 

Davis loses tough game to Layton, 6-4

The Lady Darts scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie their game with Layton last Thursday.

Layton countered with two runs in the bottom half, and the Darts were handed the loss in region play.

Abby O’Brien hit a home run to power the Darts. Kimberly Taylor hit a home run for the Lancers, who had nine hits as a team.

Games this week

Davis and Bountiful are scheduled to play non-region games against Bear River and Payson, respectively, Thursday afternoon.

Woods Cross will travel to Judge Memorial to face the Bulldogs and Viewmont will travel to Layton to face the Lancers.

The Wildcats will also face Fremont on Friday.

Games times are 3:30 p.m.
