From foot washings services on Maundy Thursday to Tenebrae service on Good Friday and vigils on Holy Saturday to the joyous services marking Easter morning, Davis County Christians will mark Holy Week with a variety of services.

The services listed below are open to the public.

Assembly of God

Abundant Life Assembly of God, 410 N. Main, North Salt Lake, will show the movie “The Passion of the Christ,” on Good Friday from 6:30-9 p.m. On Easter, worship services are planned at 9 and 11 a.m.

The Christian Life Center, 2352 E. Highway 193, Layton, is holding an Easter Sunrise Service at 8 a.m. in the upper parking lot. Those attending will watch the sun come up over the mountain and celebrate Christ’s resurrection. An Easter worship service is planned at 9 a.m. From 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. the church will host a dramatic presentation of the Stations of the Cross, with commentary. The event is not recommended for children under 12. However, activities will be available for them. An Easter Worship Service begins at 9 a.m.


Bountiful Heights Baptist Church, 390 N. 400 East,, will hold Good Friday services at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Easter worship services are set at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

First Southern Baptist Church of Bountiful, 696 N. 400 East, will again offer the “Secret Church" simulcast from 5 p.m.-midnight on Good Friday. Secret Church is a time for participants to gather, pray, worship and study the word of God. There will be a time to pray for the persecuted church in foreign lands. On Easter morning, there will be a sunrise service at 7 a.m. At 11 a.m. a worship service will include the “Lamb of God,” Easter cantata.


At the Kaysville Bible Church, 181 N. Flint Street, there will be an Easter cantata, “In His Hands,” on Easter morning at 9 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast. The Easter worship service will be at 11 a.m.


At St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Drive, a Mass of the Celebration of the Last Supper and Rite of the Washing of the Feet is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, followed by a procession from the chapel. There will be an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 10:30 p.m. On Good Friday a live Stations of the Cross will be held outside (weather permitting) at 3 p.m. At 7 p.m. the Liturgy of the Passion, Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion will be held. An Easter vigil begins at 8:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday. Easter Sunday Masses will be celebrated a 9 and 11:30 a.m.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel Street, Layton, will celebrate a bilingual Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m., followed by adoration of the Altar of Repose from 8 p.m. until midnight in the social center. On Good Friday, the Stations of the Cross with The Last Seven Words service is planned at noon. A Good Friday Divine Liturgy of the Passion and Death of the Lord begins at 7 p.m. A Holy Saturday Easter Vigil begins at 8:30 p.m. On Easter, Masses will be celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.


At the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 S. Main, Centerville, a Maundy Thursday Eucharist Service will be at 7 p.m., with foot washing and the stripping of the altar. Good Friday liturgies will be held at noon and 7 p.m., followed by the Great Easter Vigil, with the Lighting of the New Fire. Easter morning worship will be at 10 a.m.

St. Peters’ Episcopal Church, 1579 S. State Street, in Clearfield, will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. A Good Friday service is planned for 6 p.m. The Great Easter Vigil will be a combined service with St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 589 S. 200 East, Brigham City, on Holy Saturday at 7 p.m. The Easter service will be at 9:30 a.m.


Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 1840 S. 75 East, Bountiful, is planning Maundy Thursday and a Good Friday services.  Both services are set for 7 p.m. On Easter Day, a worship service will be at 10:30 a.m.

Grace Lutheran Church, 835 N. Main, Bountiful, will also hold 7 p.m. services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Easter morning worship will be at 10 a.m., preceded by a potluck breakfast and children’s Easter egg hunt at 8:30 a.m.

At Trinity Lutheran Church, 74 N. Fort Lane, a Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m. Good Friday services are scheduled for noon and 7 p.m. and an Easter Worship will be held at 10 a.m.


The Bridge Community, 260 E. Pages Lane, is hosting a sel-guided Stations of the Cross from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Good Friday. On Easter, services are planned at 9 and 10:30 a.m.


Mountain Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church 796 S. Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. On Good Friday, a Tenebrae (service of darkness) will also begin at 7 p.m.The Stations of the Cross and Easter egg hunt, are planned Saturday beginning at 10 am. An Easter worship service is planned for 10:30 a.m.

United Church of Christ

Bountiful Community Church, 150 N. 400 East, Bountiful, will hold a Good Friday time of prayer and scripture from 1-3 p.m., in the church’s chapel. On Easter, Christ’s resurrection will be celebrated at an 11 a.m. worship service.
