WOODS CROSS – The second and final meeting of the regular season between Viewmont and Davis commenced last Thursday.
Viewmont became the victor by 3-1, staying unbeaten on the season and holding the top spot in Region 1 heading into the state playoffs.
A week after losing its rivalry match to Bountiful, Woods Cross bounced back to beat Kearns 3-1.
Vikings sweep season series from Darts after 3-1 win
The Viewmont Vikings stayed unbeaten on the season after beating Davis 3-1 at Angel Street Park last Thursday afternoon.
The win kept the Vikings six points ahead of second place Fremont; the loss for the Darts puts them in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with Northridge High School.
All three of Viewmont’s goals were scored in the first half. Bryan Correa knocked in a goal and Mike Johnson had a pair of goals for the Vikings.
Davis’ only goal was actually an own-goal by Viewmont. No player from Davis was given credit for the goal.
Woods Cross downs Kearns 3-1
After dropping a tough game to Bountiful the Friday before, the Wildcats went back onto the soccer field Friday and promptly beat down the Kearns Cougars in a 3-1 win.
The win for Woods Cross was the third in its previous four games and fourth in the last six games.
The Wildcats scored all three goals in the first half against the Cougars defense. Chris DeCospa scored a pair of goals, his third and fourth goals in the season.
Zach Parrish kicked in Woods Cross’s other goal; it was his first of the season.
Games this week
Viewmont will travel to Layton High School to face the Lancers Thursday afternoon. Friday’s action will see Bountiful host Judge Memorial and Woods Cross travel to Cyprus High School to face the Pirates.
