FARMINGTON — Junior high students interested in taking an honors math class when in ninth grade can prepare by taking a summer mathematics acceleration course.
The program, offered to high-ability students entering seventh and eighth grade, begins May 1 and runs through Aug. 8 and is offered through Utah Students Connect.
The online course includes all of the material that would be covered in a school-year class, according to information provided by Davis School District.
Video explanations and reading examples of math concepts are included, plus practice assignments and practice tests. It costs $45. Students who pass will qualify for Secondary II Honors Math in ninth grade.
More information is available through Chadley Anderson, district junior high mathematics curriculum supervisor, at 801-402-5107.
