CLINTON — A standoff in a Clinton neighborhood has been resolved and a lockdown at nearby school has been lifted.

Five people left a house at 1708 W. 1500 West peacefully following a standoff that began early Wednesday morning, Two men who exited the house are being questioned by police in relation to an aggravated assault that happened in Roy a few days ago, according to Clinton Police Chief Bill Chilson.

At around 6 a.m. a Clinton officer on patrol spotted a car that was linked to one of the suspects in the aggravated assault, Chilson said.

While police were watching the house, a motorcycle arrived with a man and women on board.

As the morning wore on, the Layton SWAT team was called in because Clinton police have members on that team. Officers from Syracuse and the Davis County Sheriff's Office were also on scene. Just before 11 a.m. police sent a Bear Cat onto the porch, Chilson said. The device nudged the door open and all five individuals came out peacefully

The situation caused a lockout at the Voyage Academy, 1891 N. 1500 West.

In a statement released by Voyage academy Director Stacee Phillips, the school was in communication with police, during the lockdown, and followed procedures throughout the situation.

"The safety of everyone at Voyage Academy will remain a priority at our school," Phillips said in an email.

Chilson said the school was placed in a lockout rather than a lockdown because police knew the people in the house weren't going anywhere.

A lockout means the doors to the outside of a school ar locked and the students kept in, he said.
