BOUNTIFUL — The Viewmont Vikings boys’ tennis team took home a Region 1 title after Tuesday’s competition was completed, beating rival Davis in the process.

The Vikings swept all five finals positions to take home the region crown and will have top seeds in all five brackets when the State tournament begins Thursday at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.

Sam and Jake Tullis of Viewmont each won an individual title after winning in straight sets over Sam Hafen and Michael Moody of Davis, respectively.

In third singles, Jack Taylor beat Robert Song 6-2, 6-2 to sweep the singles competition.

In first doubles, Henry Blackburn and Jens Fillmore beat C.J. Ercanbrack and Garett Wilkes in a tough three-set battle, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

In second doubles, Preston Hymas and Ethan Campbell beat McKay Bruse and Braydon Barlow in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.

The state 5A tournament will conclude Saturday with the finals.
