WOODS CROSS — Union Pacific Railroad will replace the railroad crossing at 795 W. 500 South, beginning Sunday, May 18, causing 500 West, west of I-15 to be closed for a week.

The Utah Department of Transportation announced that during the week, westbound traffic will be blocked at the railroad crossing.  Motorists and shippers to locations through the area will have to use alternate routes to access their destinations.

Local residents should use 400 North (Exit 317) to bypass the crossing replacement work, a UDOT press release said.

Industrial and truck traffic should use 2600 South westbound, or north-bound I-215 to Redwood Road (SR-68) and then follow it north to access the refineries, other industries and businesses on west 500 South in Woods Cross and West Bountiful. The I-15 500 South (Exit 316) off-and on-ramps will remain open during this work.

The work is expected to be completed on Friday, May 23.

For more information about this closure, contact the Union Pacific Railroad at 888-870-8777.
