FARMINGTON — The public is invited to an open house to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office,  800 W. State Street, Farmington, on Friday, May 16 from 3-7 p.m.

Visitors will be able to view historic pictures, see demonstrations of the K9 unit, bomb squad, SWAT (special weapons and tactics) team,  and other units. Visitors will also be able to tour the jail (with some restrictions), according to information provided by Davis County.

The county appointed its first sheriff, Lot Smith, who served from 1854 to 1959. He was the first of 30 sheriffs who have since been elected to the position.
