SALT LAKE CITY — The Bells on Temple Square will present its annual spring concert, “Ring for Joy,” on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

The concert will feature the 32-member bell ensemble playing a seven-octave set of English hand bells, a six and a half octave set of hand bells and two, six-octave sets of hand chimes.

The program will showcase a variety of hand bell repertoire ranging from African American spirituals to ragtime jazz to marches as well as religious anthems, a press release said.

Among the more recognizable numbers will be “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin, “The Washington Post March,” by John Philip Sousa, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” by Dan Raye and Hughie Prince and “The Prayer” by Davis Foster and Carole Bayer Sager.

Twenty-eight musicians were selected to be charter members of the Bells on Temple Square. LIke members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Orchestra on Temple Square and the Temple Square Chorale, members of the Bells on Temple Square are volunteers.
