FARMINGTON — A man who robbed a Bountiful convenience store three times last year was sentenced to prison on the felony charges.

Tyler Stephen Hart, 36, of Kaysville was sentenced to five years to life for a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery and two terms of one to 15 years for two counts of second-degree robbery. Second District Court Judge John Morris ordered the sentences be served consecutively.

Police said Hart committed five robberies in 2013 — twice at a Layton convenience store and three times at a Bountiful convenience store.

In each case,  police said Hart walked in, grabbed a drink, walked up to the counter, put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and demanded cash.

During the second Layton robbery, the clerk refused to hand over the money and Hart walked around the counter, getting into a fight with the clerk, police said. Hart admitted to pulling out a pocketknife and waving it at the clerk, who then backed away and Hart took cash and left the store.

Hart was arrested the next day, after security video was posted by the media outlets on their websites, leading to an anonymous tip.
