HILL AFB — The highest ranking female military officer to lead a command in Utah will be leaving Hill Air Force Base for a new position in Ohio after serving for 22 months.

Maj. Gen. Kathleen Close has been selected as director of logistics at Air Force Materiel Command headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Close has had a bumpy ride during her command with several mishaps, suicides and a mistaken shipment of nuclear missile parts to Taiwan.

However, officals said the change is routine and generally takes place every two years. Maj. Gen. Andrew Busch will assume command.
