NORTH SALT LAKE - May 31st was Get into the River Festival Day, and North Salt Lake City and Davis County provided guides, canoes and shuttles for those interested in exploring the Jordan River.

The event was sponsored by the Jordan River Commission, whose aim is to make the Jordan River Parkway an “environmental and recreational treasure,” according to Stan Porter, a city council member from North Salt Lake and the city’s representative on the commission.

About 65 residents participated, exploring four miles of the river, according to Porter.
