BOUNTIFUL — High school and college students who participated in blood drives during the school year are encouraged to organize and donate blood through their own drives this summer.

Patients in need don’t take summer vacations, according to a release from the American Red Cross, and life-saving blood transfusions are vital throughout the year.

Student drives collect up to 20 percent of all donations during the school year, the release stated.

The youth program is called “Live. Give. Life.” and focuses on students between 16 and 24 years old who meet certain health and weight requirements.

More information is available at redcrossblood.org/livegivelife or call 1-800-733-2767.
