WOODS CROSS – Increased temperatures led to some good fishing in Davis County waters recently.

The latest fishing report, however, states most fisheries have slowed down midway through the month of June.

Success can be found if anglers hit the right places during the day.

The latest fishing report released by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources states there are fair fishing conditions at Bountiful Lake. Most anglers are seeing success catching catfish and sunfish. Warmer temperatures have resulted in the trout going deeper into the water, making them more difficult to catch.

Other warm water fish are still catchable this time of year.

Farmington Bay is reporting slow fishing due to a decrease in water levels. Though it does allow for easier access into the lake, trout is currently very difficult to catch.

Anglers using float tubes or non-motorized water vehicles will likely see the most success, the report said.

At Holmes Creek Reservoir in Layton, bass are being caught using worms, top-water lures or weedless jigs in heavily-vegetated areas.

In order to fish there, anglers must have a walk-in access code. The pond is privately owned.

The least amount of luck in the past few weeks has been at the Jensen Nature Park Pond in Syracuse. Fishing is slow, but blue gill, largemouth bass and rainbow trout are catchable at the pond.

The Kaysville Ponds are showing good fishing for catfish in the first two ponds. It’s slower fishing for any fish in the latter two ponds.

Restocking has not been done at any Davis County fisheries since late May.
