BOUNTIFUL — For their years of service to people in need, two Davis County residents were named Citizens of the Year by the Centerville/Farmington Rotary Club.

Rob Berman, a Centerville resident, was recognized for his work as a lay chair of Bountiful Community Church 15 years ago, when his service on the food pantry board also began.

At the time, he helped facilitate the construction of a separate building for the pantry. He is currently board chairman.

Elizabeth Barksdale was an active volunteer in Massachusetts and Florida before moving to Utah in 2009.

A year after arriving, she began helping at the pantry and now oversees the “Pantry Smiles” program, which helps provide dental services to families in need.

The two were honored for helping the pantry grow and serve the needs of the South Davis community.

For more information on the pantry, call 801-299-8464. Information about Rotary International is available through rotary.org.
