“We had the chance to play here so it’s pretty fun for the kids,” said Woods Cross coach Paul Ayala.
But the most fun went to the Mustangs as they came away with a 6-1 win, avenging a 1-0 loss earlier in the season to the Cats.
In the first inning, Mountain Crest jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a lead-off triple got things rolling.
Woods Cross bounced back in the bottom of the first when Taylor Hood scored.
The scored remain stuck at 3-1 until the third inning when Mountain Crest picked up three more runs, including a controversial play at the plate that looked as if Hood had tagged out a Mustang base runner.
After that, Mountain Crest scored two more runs and Woods Cross was unable to muster any more offense.
Woods Cross will represent Region 5 as the no. 2 seed and hosts Murray today.
