Robert and Phyllis Dilks will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 24. They were married in their local village church in Warwickshire, England in 1954.

Bob first noticed the children’s Nanny out walking her charge. She smiled at him as she passed by and in his own words, “instantly swept me off my feet.” Next time he saw her he plucked up enough courage to ask her for a date. She declined. Not to be discouraged and thinking of the old English proverb “Faint heart never won Fair lady,” he asked her again. She said “yes.” Two years later they were married. In 1971, after visiting relatives in West Bountiful, they returned home to England and began the emigration process. The family became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1972 and were sealed in the London Temple in 1973. A week later they arrived back in West Bountiful to begin their new life, where they continue to live today.

They are the proud parents of Stephen (Jan) and Christine, who have blessed them with six beautiful grandchildren and now, in addition, 13 great-grandchildren, with another on her way to join them.

To celebrate this great occasion the family will honor them with a dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Thanks Dad and Mum for your great example of hard work and teamwork and especially for your true love and devotion to each other.

We love you very much.
