Utah Department of Transportation crews will set girders over 500 South for the Diverging Diamond Interchange, according to a press release. 500 South will be closed to east/west traffic at I-15 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday night into Tuesday morning. Crews will begin to place bridge girders to support the expanded bridge over 500 South. The ramps to and from I-15 will remain open during this time. Motorists are encouraged to use 800 West to 400 North or 500 West to 400 North as an alternative route.
Meanwhile multiple lane closures are expected in both directions between I-215 and Centerville through mid-September. Single lane closures begin nightly at 9 p.m. with I-15 restricted to one lane in each direction by midnight, the press release said.
The lane closures have been implemented to allow space for asphalt removal and replacement, concrete pavement rehabilitation and bridge rehabilitation.
Local residents can expect some construction noise and light vibration.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes such as U.S. 89, or Legacy Parkway, or use mass transit during the project.
