BOUNTIFUL — South Davis Metro Fire Agency and Questar Gas crews are on the scene of a gas line break at Bountiful Blvd., and Indian Springs Road. The public is being asked to avoid the area for the next several hours.

A construction crew accidentally cut a 3 inch distribution gas line about 10:25 a.m., on Friday, according to South Davis Metro Fire Agency Chief Jeff Bassett.

Questar Gas crews are currently working on clamping the line, that was still spewing gas at 11:45 a.m., Bassett said. Bountiful Blvd. is closed between Canyon Creek and Indian Springs and Indian Springs is closed between 400 East and Bountiful Blvd. They will remain closed until further notice.

There have been no evacuations at this time.

Fire and gas company crews are on scene monitoring the situation to insure residents' safely. Currently there are no evacuations and the wind is not blowing, meaning the gas is going straight up into the air, Bassett said.

Questar crews will have to dig up the road to clamp the leaking line and that will take several hours, Bassett said.

The Clipper will follow the situation as it progresses.
