Constitution honored on anniversary

THE U.S. CONSTITUTION  is celebrated over several days of events planned for Bountiful Park this coming week. At last year’s event, families learned more about the Articles of the Constituion and the early settlers in America.

BOUNTIFUL – This year’s celebration of the U.S. Constitution will include a 5K fun run, a musical presentation of “Give Me Liberty” and a visit from best-selling author Timothy Ballard.

 Freedom’s Light Foundation is presenting “A Celebration of the Constitution” from Saturday, Sept. 13 to Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Bountiful Park, 400 N. 200 West.

Events begin with a 5K run, “Lighting Freedom’s Flame,” Saturday, Sept. 13.

Monday’s events include historical presentations and booths, from 5 to 7 p.m. At 6 p.m., the musical “Give Me Liberty,” will be presented and Rod Arquette of KNRS radio will emcee.

At 7 p.m. that same evening, “George Washington” will be presented by Gary Van Dozler.

Booths and presentations on Joan of Arc, Colonial America, the Founding Fathers and immigration,will run Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 16 and 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and again Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Tuesday evening, “Give Me Liberty” will run at 6 p.m., followed by a talk by Timothy Ballard, a best-selling author and speaker.

Youth groups and scout troops are encouraged to participate and can make a reservation or volunteer by contacting 801-864-0972 or freedomslight.us.

Admission is free.

Those who register early for the run, at freedomslight.us, will receive a t-shirt, sun glasses and color for after the race.

A breakfast for runners is included for a nominal donation.

Same-day registration for the run starts at 7 a.m. at Bountiful Park, 400 N. 200 West. The run begins at 8 a.m. 

The U.S. Constitution was formally signed on Sept. 17, 1787.
