CLEARFIELD — On Friday, May 22, the Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center awarded 17 veterans for supporting the AbilityOne program.

PARC is a nonprofit organization established by the Davis School District and serves people with disabilities in Davis, Weber, Salt Lake and Tooele counties. The goal is to foster a safe environment for employment training for people with disabilities.

AbilityOne is the largest single source of employment for people who are blind or with severe disabilities. Veterans were presented with certificates of appreciation for their military service and support of AbilityOne. They were also given veteran pins.

Through AbilityOne, custodial contracts exist with Hill Air Force Base, Tooele Army Depot and General Service Administration that allow people with disabilities to receive training and have a job.

AbilityOne honored Robert Butterfield, Doug Chard, James Crosby, Robert P. Daniels, Ron DeGroot, Golden Flint, Blaine Gledhill, Michael Hurtado, Francis Jacobs, Phillip Keoppel, Robert Lane, Tracy Medina, Dave Roderick, Dennis Sandoval, Georgia Smith, Eugene Torres and Dr. Paul Waite.
