First grade focuses on safety

SYRACUSE — The first-grade students at Buffalo Point Elementary will be having a Car Party on the track outside of the school on Thursday. All children will drive their own late model additions of cardboard boxes. Focus will be on promoting safety and we will have stations provided by local policemen, firefighters and businesses. Muir to visit Clark Planetarium

BOUNTIFUL — To culminate their study of astronomy, the sixth-grade students at Muir Elementary will take a field trip to the Clark Planetarium from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Thursday. After touring the planetarium the students will head to Ensign Peak for a hike up the Peak. For more information, contact Elizabeth Roberts at 402-1550.

CTE students to hold open houses

DAVIS COUNTY — The Career and Technical Education Department of the Davis School District presents the annual Home Show Open House, displaying houses and two portable classrooms built by students.

•Davis High School home project: 209 North Ranch Road, Farmington

•Layton High School home project: 156 East Golden Avenue, Layton

•Syracuse High School home project: 1458 South Brookshire Dr., Syracuse

•Viewmont High School portable classroom: 952 West Meadowland Circle, West Bountiful

•Northridge High portable classroom: 2430 N. 400 W. Layton

•Woods Cross High portable classroom: 600 W. 2200 S. Woods Cross

“The quality of these student projects exceeds that of those portables we’ve purchased commercially in the past,” said Chase Rogers, director of Planning for Davis School District, referring to the two portables. The homes will be on display from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday.

Bountiful holds ‘Our First Tri’

BOUNTIFUL — The Bountiful High School Child Care Center is planning “Our First Tri” for the children and their parents on Thursday at 4 p.m. This event is the culmination of fitness activities throughout the year. The race starts with the children throwing a water balloon at a parent. The children will then transition to their decorated bikes and complete one lap around the track on their bikes, with the final leg consisting of a one lap run. Snow Horse to hold celebration

KAYSVILLE — Snow Horse Elementary School is hosting its first annual spring arts celebration. There will be an open house and art gallery stroll and dance performance. Contact the school at 402-7350 for more information.

Syracuse students recognized

SYRACUSE — Syracuse High students won the top three places at the Trig Star Competition in the state of Utah. They attended a luncheon on May 21 in Salt Lake to receive recognition and their cash prizes. One finalist will compete on the national level next week.
