This cocoa is FUN to make and involves the person drinking it to finalize the sweet treat. This recipe would be great for any party and great for kids parties!
6 cups of 2% milk
6 tbl of Dutch cocoa (yes, you can use other cocoa- but Dutch has a smoother flavor)
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
6 “handfuls” of cotton candy (handful= a piece as large as an adult fist)
Optional whipped cream and cinnamon for garnishing
Set aside one cup of the milk and place the remaining 5 cups in a saucepan. Place the split vanilla bean in the saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes until hot. In the meantime, heat the cup of reserved milk in the microwave for a minute until hot and stir in the 6 tbl of cocoa, breaking up the lumps with a fork and stirring.
Remove the split vanilla bean from the simmering pan and add in the cocoa/milk mixture, stirring to incorporate all. Pour the hot milk mixture in to each cup. Provide the handful of cotton candy to each drinker and have them deposit the “snowball” in to the cocoa- it will melt instantly like magic!
Garnish with whipped cream and
