Daniel Dukelow Ence, former resident of Bountiful, has been awarded a doctorate from the University of Utah, Eccles School of Human Genetics. Daniel studied under the direction of Mark Yandell. He successfully defended his thesis on the study of Trichomonad Genomics.

Daniel was recently awarded a postdoctoral fellowship through the USDA to study loblolly pine genetics with Matias Kirst at the School of Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Prior to his graduate studies, Daniel earned a bachelor of science at BYU-Provo in bioinformatics. He was also employed in the Department of Systematics, Evolution and Ecology at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA.

He is a 2002 graduate of Viewmont High School and served an LDS mission in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the son of Larry and Merlene Ence of Bountiful.
