The family of Shirley Chandler Welch is celebrating her 90th birthday on Dec. 10. She grew up in North Ogden, graduated from Weber High School, and attended Weber College just as World War II ended.

She moved to Logan to attend Utah State University and met her husband Bob. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1948 and graduated together the following year. The lived in Logan, Ogden, and for the last 59 years in Bountiful where they raised four children: Robert, Richard, Melinda, and Elizabeth. The have 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who they love very much.

She has fulfilled a variety of community and church responsibilities including Relief Society president. As a docent, she enjoyed 24 years at the LDS Church Museum of History and Art from the time of its opening in 1984. Proud of her pioneer heritage, she is an active participant and charter member of the Mueller Park Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Shirley loves to read and has enjoyed good friends as a founding member of the Triunus Literary Club. Her family will meet for a reunion and birthday dinner at Little America.
