BOUNTIFUL— ‘Tis the season to be singing Christmas songs.
Bountiful’s Main Street Merchants Association wants to give residents the chance to do just that with their upcoming “Christmas Family Sing Along,” set for Dec. 19 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. along Main Street. The event will include group caroling, a variety of treats, and possibly a few surprises as well.
“We thought it would be a fun event for families to come participate in,” said Mike Murphy, president of the Main Street Merchants Association. “Kind of an old-fashioned Christmas.”
Everyone is welcome to take part in the event, which will start next to the tree of lights in front of the post office. Guests are encouraged to gather there until the event starts, which will kick off with some group caroling.
In addition, America First Credit Union will be on hand with some free treats for guests.
“They’re bringing hot chocolate and donuts for everyone,” he said.
Then participants will break into smaller groups that will head to different parts of Main Street. All the groups will get the opportunity to visit all of Main Street and get a few more holiday goodies along the way.
“There will be treats at various businesses that will still be open,” said Murphy.
Overall, it will give people of all ages the chance to enjoy Christmas music, Main Street, the city’s lights, and each other.
“It’ll be a gentle stroll down Main Street to celebrate the lights and the season.”
The lights will be especially important for residents who were hoping to take part in the city’s festival of lights, which were cancelled a little while ago because of weather issues. Because of that, organizers hope that nature will be more agreeable for the sing-along.
“We were snowed out of our festival of lights, which is sad,” said Murphy. “We’re hoping it’s not zero degrees (for the sing-along).”
The event is also sponsored by Intermountain LDS Hospital. For more information about this and other events, visit bountifulmainstreet.com.
