Separate church and state

Dear Editor:

I attended the city council meeting in Woods Cross on Dec. 6. It was very interesting how government works here. It concerns me that it feels like a good ol’ boys club (if you are religious, that is).

When they were interviewing one candidate, they referred to him as Bishop. Don’t believe that was his first name. At the end of the interviews, when they had chosen the new councilman, the comment was made to a different Bishop, “How does it feel to have three people on the city council in your ward?”

I recognize we are in Utah, but there is separation of church and state right? Just something to consider.
