Closing week for swimming, wrestling

Two Winter prep sports seasons conclude this week with the state wrestling and swimming championships, both hosted at sites in Utah County.

Wrestling in the 4A and 5A classifications began with first and second round matches on Wednesday at Utah Valley University in Orem. Today, championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Consolation semis begin at 2 p.m., and consolation finals at 3 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., the Parade of Champions, for finalists, place winners an Academic All-State, begins. That will be followed by the championship finals starting at 5:45 p.m. Individual and team awards will be presented following the final championship match.

State swimming begins today at Brigham Young University with opening day of the 5A meet at 7 p.m. On Friday, 4A swimmers start their first day at 10 a.m. The 5A meet will conclude with finals starting at 6 p.m. Saturday’s 4A meet conclusion starts at 3 p.m. 

Order of events for both meets: 200 medley relay, 200 free 200 IM, 50 free, diving, 100 fly, 100 free, 500 free, 200 free relay, 100 back, 100 breast and 400 free relay. Results will be published in next week’s Davis Clipper.
