Christine Marie Lindsey 69, returned to her heavenly father on February 13, 2017; due to septic shock and pneumonia. She was the widow of Michael Burke Lindsey and they shared 41 years together.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 16, 1947 to Lamar Tibbs and Shirley Marie Edward. She was the older of two children. She graduated from Bountiful High School and attended Weber State where she briefly studied sociology. She became a mother, which quickly became her main focus.
When her children were older she worked temporarily for her father Lamar Tibbs, as a secretary for his insurance company. She held various other positions, but her favorite position, and most meaningful work, was as an Independent Living Specialist for the State of Utah. Within this position she worked closely with NAMI and worked with legislatures at the state and federal level, fighting to pass bills on insurance parity and supporting the mentally ill and disabled. She then became overcome by her own health and could no longer work.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lamar Tibbs and Shirley Marie Edward, her brother Stephen Tibbs, husband Mike Lindsey, Grandmother Nina Scalley, Aunt Blanche Trumble, Uncle William Edward MD, Uncle Irving Hock and cousin’s Doug Hock, and Roger Hock and step-son Adam Lindsey.
She is survived by her two children John Scott Lindsey and Kara Lindsey-Pankiw; Michael Pankiw son in-law and grandson Camden Edward Pankiw, a step daughter, older grandchildren, two aunts, a cousin and by her nieces and nephews.
She moved to Aurora, Colorado March 2013. She made many friends and had a very happy life in Colorado. She loved being a grandmother to her newest grandson Camden more than anything.
Let your wings spread and fly our sweet angel. We love and miss you, but are happy for you to be at peace in heaven.
There will be a service from 2 to 5 p.m. on March 2, 2017, at Heather Gardens, where she lived, 2888 S Heather Gardens Way, Aurora, CO 80014. Plans for Utah service are currently undecided.
