Food pantries rely on significant food drives during the year to collect needed food for clients. The largest of these food drives is Scouting for Food statewide food drive which will take place on Saturday, March 18. Members of the Great Salt Lake Council in southern Davis County will be providing door hanger notices to donors and then picking up food at individual homes throughout southern Davis County to be delivered to the Bountiful Community Food Pantry.
The Bountiful Community Food Pantry (BCFP) provided 75,226 food services to individuals in southern Davis County in 2016, which included providing 30,438 Pantry Packs that went children to provide supplemental food on Saturday and Sunday.
The public is invited to set out food donations early on the morning of Saturday, March 18, so that they can be picked up by your neighborhood Scouts starting at 9 a.m. While all food items are of help, most needed items include canned meat, sugar, cooking oil, pancake mix, pancake syrup, condiments, canned tomato items, peanut butter and canned beans. The pantry will accept food that has expired.
“Through your food donations the BCFP can continue providing food assistance to those in need in our community,” said Lorna Koci, executive director of the pantry.
