BOUNTIFUL—A body found last week in the Mill Creek channel near the playground at Washington Elementary has been identified.

Detectives believe Jeremy Shane Isaacson, 38, from Marriott-Slaterville had been in the area of the school on Feb. 25 about 8 p.m. after he fled from police. He had been stopped for lane violations and speeding at 2900 South Hwy. 89. Police detected an odor of alcohol during the traffic stop, but Isaacson drove off in the vehicle while the officer was reviewing documents. After a brief pursuit, officers lost sight of Isaacson’s vehicle. The vehicle was found at 600 South 500 West a few minutes later but officers couldn’t locate Isaacson.

On Feb. 27 children on the playground at the school saw a body in the channel and reported it to the playground supervisor who called 911. Bountiful Police officers and South Davis Metro Fire crews responded and found a partially submerged deceased male in the creek.According to police, there were no apparent injuries or signs of foul play. The case is still under investigation.
