“Jobi [who finished second at the 4A state tournament a year ago] obviously is a huge asset to our team,” said head coach Jenny Hathaway, who is in her fifth year at Bountiful. “She is looking good this year.”
Liz Ward and Megan Van Leeuwen shot 85s and Megan Anderson scored a 93.
“We were very pleased with our girls’ performances,” Hathaway said. “They have been working very hard on shaving their strokes off their game this summer and they have improved a ton.”
Einerson finished behind East’s Kana Crosland. “It will be fun to watch her and Jobi battle,” Hathaway said. “They are two of the best golfers in the state and it will be fun to watch them compete.”
Hathaway brought on Kurt Bosen to help the girls win the Region 5 title and compete well at the state tournament. “He is a huge reason we are seeing success and has a great grasp of the game, and works so well with our girls,” said Hathaway. She also added David Harada to the Bountiful coaching staff.
This season, Bountiful will compete in tournaments March 21 at El Monte, March 27 at Eagle Mountain, April 17 at Eaglewood, April 18 at Riverside, April 24 at Eaglewood, and May 1 at Bonneville before the Region Tournament at Schneiters Bluff May 9. The 4A state tournament is scheduled this year for May 15-16 at Meadowbrook.
