LAYTON—A local school teacher and Layton resident recently donated money to the Layton Police Department to buy a high caliber ballistic vest after she saw a similar story about a church congregation that had raised money to help their local department.

Carolyn Warren decided she wanted to do what she could to help and made the donation, according to the LPD Facebook page.

“Officer Justin Weekes was issued the vest that may end up saving someone’s life someday,” read the post. “Thank you so much Ms. Warren for contributing to our community in such a thoughtful way.”
