They say “been there done that.” It all started on April 29, 1947, they married in the Salt Lake Temple. They soon moved to Sun Valley, Idaho where Reid became a skiing photographer for the Sun Valley News Bureau. Betty worked in the dark room with Reid for a time until she had children.

They moved to Bountiful in 1954 and still live in the house built a year later.

They have a wonderful large family, seven children, the first three born in the Sun Valley Lodge, Bill Rowland (Debi), Rob Rowland, Linda Smith (Ray), Nancy Stephenson (David), Judi Keyser (Kent), Suzanne Moyes (Dale) and Merrilee Gorringe (Art), 25 grandchildren and about 50 great-grandchildren.

Reid worked most of his life in photography, sports, TV, industrial, but mostly wedding and family. Betty did beautiful art work for their photo studio. For seven years they owned the Lamplighter Reception Center for a side business in Salt Lake. Betty did the food, flowers and management. Reid did the photos and hard labor. At the age of 60 Betty finished her degree in art at the U of U.

They are faithful members of the LDS Church. Reid served as branch president in a new branch in Ketchum while in Idaho. They served a mission in the Dominican Republic and on returning served as ordinance workers at the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples.

They love the outdoors. They had a small house boat at Lake Powell and an RV and traveled the states and Canada.

Their anniversary will be celebrated with a dinner with family and friends at the Olive Garden.
