The young farm boy you see wearing his best pair of overalls, plaid shirt, muffled hair and sincerest of smiles recently celebrated his 80th birthday! On May 30, 1937 Carol L. Powers Cahoon and Rolland N. Cahoon welcomed a new baby boy into the world, William Carol.

He was full of curiosity, adventure, spunk, meat...and potatoes. He and his gang of Bountiful buddies walked, ran, rode and scouted the streets of 2nd South and Main, throwing caution to the wind. When he and his gang grew taller and stronger, Bill played lifeguard at the local pool all the while playing football, building brawn, herding livestock, throwing ‘em out at first and chasing classic cars.

The 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s brought life’s happiest and hardest of moments. It what seemed in a blink of an eye, Bill’s name changed to Husband, Father, Dad, Neighbor, Foreman, Teacher, Coach, Search and Rescue, Vet, Cheerleader, Chauffeur, Cook and Farmer. With seven mouths to feed and a wife to support, his work ethic stood strong and constant with a resume boasting entrepreneur, engineer, superintendent, inventor, big rigger, rancher, friend and All-American. Now, in the 21st century, you will find that young boy at heart enjoying the company of 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, seven children, their spouses, a beautiful wife of 51 years, a patch of earth to cultivate and a hankerin’ to swing the bat. What has seemed like a trip around the world has turned out to be a stroll through the ballpark; an 80 year old’s Field of Dreams. Happy Birthday Dad! We love you so!
