LAYTON—Just in time for the holidays, Dillard’s department store hosted a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting last Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the former Macy’s location at the Layton Hills Mall.
A full-line department store featuring apparel for the whole family, Dillard’s offers shoes, cosmetics, accessories, home fashions, decorative gifts, fine china, crystal and items for the bed and bath, according to a release.
Construction began in April on the 160,000 square-foot store, filling the vacancy left by Macy’s on the east side of the mall, adding to the already vibrant mix of tenants.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dillard’s – one of the nation’s largest fashion retailers – to Layton City,” said Layton City Mayor Bob Stevenson in the statement. “They are a highly reputable company that delivers on service, style and value to its shoppers.”
Dillard’s announced that in conjunction with the grand opening of the new store, a portion of their profits from a special VIP shopping event held Nov. 14, would be donated to the Davis Education Foundation.
Ranking among the nation’s largest fashion retailers, Dillard’s, Inc. has annual sales of more than $6.5 billion, offering a large selection of merchandise and products from exclusive brand and national sources, the release said.
There are more than 270 branded retail locations in operation and 23 clearance centers through 29 states including an ecommerce store at dillards.com.
The Layton Hills Mall has more than 100 specialty shops including anchor stores JC Penney, SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium, Dick’s Sporting Goods and the new Dillard’s. It is owned and managed by CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn.
