WEST BOUNTIFUL — It’s a chance to see creativity in action.

Local artist Erin Pollan will be painting on site on June 19 from 6-9 p.m. at the Repartee Art Gallery in West Bountiful (175 N. 500 West, across from Costco). Pollan, the gallery’s featured artist for the week, will have her oil paintings displayed until June 24 in addition to the live display of her technique.

“My philosophy is that if it looks like a photo, it might as well be a photo,” said Pollan. “If you’re going to paint it, make it look painted. This enables me to make things more beautiful than they are in real life.”

Pollan plans on bringing along some new pieces she has painted, including a larger one of the Salt Lake City Temple and a smaller one of the Bountiful Temple. She also enjoys doing commission work.

“I love working on commissions, because they often mean more to people,” she said.

Pollan is also the gallery manager at Thyme and Seasons, located at 3211 S. Orchard Drive in Bountiful. Though the gallery’s current show won’t end until July, artists interested in taking part in the next show are invited to contact Pollan at erin_pollan@hotmail.com. Each show runs for several months.

As for Repartee Gallery, their plan is to invite a different local artist to paint on site at the gallery each weekend this summer. For a specific schedule, please call the gallery at 801-296-0718.

“It’s a great opportunity,” said Pollan. “They’re doing a really great service for local artists.”
