CENTERVILLE — Though the city’s door-to-door recycling program will cost Centerville residents when it gets instated this fall, it will also save them money in other areas.

In response to the recycling program, which will start the first of either this upcoming September or October, the city council recently agreed to drop the price of a second garbage can for those who choose to cancel the can, then restart it. Though the initial price for the second can will still be $70, to reinstate the can after it’s been cancelled will only cost $10.

“This would accommodate those who only want a second can for grass clippings, for example,” said Centerville City Manager Steve Thacker. “The savings from the other months would offset recycling fees.”
