Those wishing to file have from Wednesday, July 1-Wednesday, July 15 at their city clerk’s office. Fees vary by city.
Here is a breakdown for the seven cities in the Clipper’s primary circulation area.
• Bountiful’s Mayor, Joe Johnson, will be up for re-election, as will Council members Fred Moss and Tom Tolman.
• In Centerville, Mayor Ronald Russell’s seat will be open as will seats for Council members Justin Allen and Sherri Lindstrom.
• Farmington has elections for Mayor Scott Harbertson’s seat and Council members Paula Alder and Dave Hales.
• Fruit Heights, unique among possibly every city in the state, does not accept filings for office. Rather, conventions for the Pine Cone and Sagebrush Parties will be held Sept. 10, where candidates will be nominated to fill the seats of Mayor Todd Stevenson and Council members Eileen Moss and Jody Trujillo.
• Kaysville voters can file for the mayor’s seat, currently held by Neka Roundy, and to fill council seats of Lynn Galbraith and Gil Miller.
• In North Salt Lake, the seat of Mayor Shanna Schaefermeyer will be open as well as two council members, Lisa Watts Baskin and Matt Hardy.
• West Bountiful Mayor James Behunin’s seat will be open, as well as that of Council members Debbie McKean and Cheryl Searle.
• Woods Cross will also have openings for seats currently held by Mayor Kent Parry and two council seats held by Tamy Dayley and Jon Hadlow.
The same scenario, or very similar to that, exists in all of the county’s other eight cities. For more information about a particular city, visit their website (links available on the Clipper’s website, www.davisclipper.com), or call individual city offices.
